We started Headwater Bookkeeping because we know how valuable clean, reliable financial information is for a small business owner.
After more than 20 years of owning and operating small businesses ourselves, we understand the difference between reports that look impressive and numbers that actually help you make decisions.

We believe most business owners do not need complicated dashboards or financial jargon. They need accurate books, a clear monthly rhythm, and someone they trust to help them understand what matters.
We keep things simple on purpose.
Jacob and Kim began their small business journeys in 2006 as part owners of the educational software company, Interactive Achievement (IA). The business excelled and Jacob was named Virginia’s 2012 Small Business Person of the Year.
IA was sold to PowerSchool in 2016. Since then, Jacob and Kim have founded and operate multiple real estate and service-based companies, all under the umbrella of The Headwater Companies.
Jacob and Kim live in Cave Spring with their two sons and their two dogs.
